Help! What are the differences between your packages?
To simplify it, if you only want those classic-style videos with stationary cameras for ceremony and speeches, choose Focal; Lite will preserve your entire day in a modern, cinematic, and timeless highlight film; if you want Focal and Lite combined, go for Premium; On top of Premium, Deluxe includes a second shooter, and additional social media or cultural features, no blind spot, no rush, no stress, no regrets.
Where can I see the final result of these packages?
Send a message to request samples. We'll gladly share a few samples with you. Although we showcase bits and pieces of some films, it just doesn't feel right to put everything out there publicly. We fully respect your privacy, and the privacy of other couples!
Which package do most couples book? How many hours do they typically need?
Premium. Most couples book 8-10 hours of filming service for a wedding day.
How many hours of filming service do I need?
Let’s look at the day: your besties and mates may arrive around midday to prepare and have some fun together. Your ceremony kicks off at 2-3. Your reception starts at 5-6. Your first dance, speeches, cake cutting won’t wrap-up until 9.
Then, the question goes back to you: which part do you want to take out? It’s really up to you.
What does a second videographer do? Do we need one?
A second videographer takes care of extra cameras and look for alternative positions different from the main shooter.
It all depends on your preference and budget, really. A rule of thumb is: if you're expecting more than 100 guests, having a second videographer is highly recommended. There will be blind spots in the venue. Uncle Bert will stand up to take videos with his phone, blocking our cameras. We recommend it to ensure everything can be as good as possible.
Can I add or remove things from an existing package?
Of course you can.
For example, some couples want a second videographer in addition to the Premium package, then they have it, with a lower cost than Deluxe. Some couples want to shave off 2 hours of filming time from Deluxe, we also make it happen with a lower cost than the standard Deluxe package.
How can I customise my own package to fit in my budget?
You can use those four packages as a guide, and try to take out from or add on to the closest one. Then flick a message to tell us how you want it to be.
If you want it to be hourly-based, let us know how many hours you may need, and what kind of film(s) you would like to see. We will work out your package around your budget!
Do I need 4K resolution? What’s the default resolution?
Our default resolution is HD (1920x1080). It is most YouTube videos’ standard. HD has been an industry standard for many years, and will continue to be for a while.
However, if you want a future-proof option, go for 4K! 4K TVs and monitors are everywhere. Some folks even bought 8K TVs can you believe that? So, if you want to view your special days on a 4K screen with its full potential, then 4K is here for you.
Why does 4K cost a bit more? My phone records in 4K.
Delivering 4K result means more work and effort to edit, master and render your films back at studio. It is not just a flick of the button, unfortunately, and it is also very hardware demanding.
Do we need a videographer/filmmaker? I feel like we won’t even watch the videos again.
This is a question gets asked all the time. But to quote a wise lady:
“Poll after poll for biggest post-wedding regret has always been not having a videographer… and chances are, since you’re already wondering and asking, you will most likely regret it too.
If you get a good modern videographer, I guarantee you will watch it much more than once. The highlights videos are designed to be captivating and showcase the whole day and all the important words in a short attention span video that you’ll be playing over and over again.
If you get a cheap videographer or an old dated guy with a handicam, you’ll probably just watch it once.”
Why should I bother hiring a videographer to record my ceremony? My cousin has a good camera!
Ok we get it! Your cousin might brag about his 4K camcorder, how it can zoom in pretty darn close. But your cousin doesn’t know how to deliver crystal clear sound for your vows, and won’t capture your tears and laughter when everyone stands up blocking his camera. Plus, his camcorder will probably be shaky and doesn’t expose properly😊
There are loads of technical and experience disadvantages we could list. But to simply put – it won’t even come close to the same level. That’s why there’re film schools and professional apprenticeship.
I need photos and videos being taken. Do you do photo shoots?
Yes and no. In most cases it is a VERY bad idea for one person to do both, even though somebody may claim they can do it. Frequently switching between filming and photography always leads to a junky result.
If you like, we often offer a film + photography package, with a much lower cost than finding a filmmaker and a photographer separately. We team up with highly experienced wedding photographers with excellent reputation.
I’m tying the knot outside of Auckland, can you travel without charging a fortune?
Don't sweat it! We cover many, many weddings in various locations like Waikato, Tauranga, Northland, Rotorua, Coromandel, and even Queenstown!
We’ll sort out a very reasonable travel cost. Most new couples’ reaction was: “oh that’s not bad!”
I’m planning a cultural or an unconventional wedding, but your packages don’t have options to suit my needs. Can I customise a package for my own day?
100%! Just tell us your rough plan, and we will design a cost-efficient package together with you! Plus, we LOVE special weddings. Those unique elements bring so much fun to this job.
I am/my partner is not photogenic. Can you do something to help?
Absolutely. Let’s have a coffee chat before the big day. It's a great opportunity for us to get to know each other, share some common interests, and set expectations. This makes a big difference!
Also, coming from a background of documentary makes me/us apply a journalism style to wedding shoots. That is – to capture something genuine; not to stage something posing.
How do I book your service?
Once knowing your needs and budget, we will send you a formal quote. All you have to do is going through the quote, make sure you are happy with everything, and pay a very small deposit to lock in your date. No need to shell out a large sum right away.
